Commercial & Business
Licensed commercial electrical for North County businesses -- tenant improvements, EV charging, restaurant electrical, LED retrofits, and maintenance programs done on schedule and to code.
What We Provide for Commercial & Business
Commercial electrical work has to happen on schedule, pass inspection the first time, and not slow down your project or your business. That requires an electrician who understands commercial scope, coordinates with your GC and the AHJ without hand-holding, and shows up when committed. Wheyland Electric has been delivering commercial electrical work throughout the Carlsbad Research Center, Palomar Airport Road corridor, and North County business parks since 2008. We handle the full commercial scope -- tenant improvements across all use types, commercial EV charging with load management, restaurant and food service electrical from equipment hookups through Title 24 compliance, LED lighting retrofits with SDG&E rebate documentation, and ongoing maintenance programs. One contractor. One point of contact. Permitted work that closes on schedule.
Why Commercial & Business Choose Wheyland Electric
- We know Carlsbad commercial inventory -- Carlsbad Research Center, Palomar Airport Road, Loker Avenue, and Bressi Ranch Village Center each have different electrical infrastructure profiles

- We coordinate directly with your GC on TI projects -- scheduling, sequencing, and milestone communication without gaps
- Title 24 energy compliance handled as part of every applicable California commercial project -- not an afterthought
- Minimal business disruption -- we schedule installation and maintenance work around your operating hours

How We Work With Commercial & Business
Site Walk and Scope Review
We visit the property, review plans if available, and identify the full electrical scope. For TI projects we coordinate with your GC and architect from the start. You receive a written proposal with line-item pricing before any work is scheduled.
Permit and AHJ Coordination
We pull all required permits under our C-10 license, submit to the AHJ, and track approval status. For TI projects we coordinate directly with your permit runner or building department contact. No delays from paperwork falling through the cracks.
Installation
Our licensed electricians complete all work to NEC and California Electrical Code standards. On TI and construction projects we sequence work to hit your inspection milestones and communicate directly with your site supervisor on any schedule impacts.
Inspection and Commissioning
We schedule and attend all required inspections, commission all systems including lighting controls and EV charging stations, and verify Title 24 compliance before closeout. First-time pass is the expectation on every project.
Documentation and Handoff
You receive as-built panel directories, permit closeout documentation, warranty information, and utility rebate paperwork where applicable. Ongoing maintenance clients receive written service reports after every visit.

Commercial & Business — Frequently Asked Questions
We handle the full range of commercial electrical -- tenant improvements across all use types, commercial EV charging, restaurant and food service electrical, LED lighting retrofits, HOA common area electrical, light industrial work, and ongoing maintenance programs. Residential and commercial scope under one C-10 license.
Yes. We subcontract for GCs on TI projects throughout North County San Diego daily. We review plans before mobilizing, sequence rough-in to hit your inspection milestones, communicate directly with your site supervisor, and deliver permitted work that passes inspection the first time.
Title 24 energy code applies to most California commercial construction and significant remodel projects. We verify lighting power density, specify compliant controls, install occupancy sensors and daylight harvesting where required, and provide Title 24 compliance documentation for permit closeout. This is standard scope on every applicable project -- not an add-on.
Yes. We design and install commercial EV charging infrastructure for office parks, retail centers, restaurants, and multi-tenant properties. Load management systems allow more stations on existing service capacity -- we evaluate your service size and recommend the right approach before proposing hardware.
We serve commercial properties throughout the Carlsbad Research Center, Palomar Airport Road corridor, Loker Avenue and El Camino Real business parks, Bressi Ranch Village Center, Encinitas Boulevard, Grand Avenue San Marcos, and throughout North County San Diego. We are Carlsbad-based and familiar with the specific building stock in each area.
Yes. Restaurant electrical is a significant part of our commercial scope. We size circuits from manufacturer spec sheets, coordinate hood system electrical with your mechanical contractor, handle Title 24 lighting controls, and prepare the electrical documentation your health department inspection requires.
Yes. We provide scheduled maintenance programs for commercial properties -- covering panel inspections, lighting maintenance, GFCI and safety device testing, and documented reporting after every visit. Programs are priced at flat monthly rates for predictable budgeting.
Our commercial bids are written and itemized by scope -- rough-in, trim, panel work, permits, and any specialty scope such as EV charging or Title 24 controls are broken out separately. For design-build projects without complete plans, we provide budget ranges based on use type and square footage and firm up pricing once plans are available.
